Founded in 2022 and based in Southland, FinnsCon draws on over 30 years of experience leading and managing businesses across sectors — from operational roles in the Royal New Zealand Navy to executive leadership at Invercargill Airport and NZAS.

Who are we?

FinnsCon is a Southland-based business consultancy focused on helping businesses grow from the inside out. Founded in 2022 by Nigel Finnerty, FinnsCon builds on more than 30 years of leadership and management experience across the Navy, heavy industry, aviation, small to medium businesses and community sectors.
We work with small to medium sized businesses, not-for-profits, and organisations of all types to provide strategic clarity, strengthen leadership, improve systems, and build capability — all with a practical, people-first approach.

Nigel Finnerty

Founder & Principal Consultant
Nigel’s leadership journey began in the Royal New Zealand Navy and has taken him through operational and executive roles in some of Southland’s most strategic organisations — including the New Zealand Aluminium Smelter and Invercargill Airport, where he served as Chief Executive from 2016 to 2022.
Since starting FinnsCon, Nigel has supported businesses across the region including the Southland Business Chamber, Active Southland, Recycle South, Number10, and South Tech. He also contributes to the community through governance roles at Active Southland, and schools as well as his involvement with Inclusive Activity Murihiku (iAM), a charity supporting people living with disability to be more active.
